Fosters needed for animal shelter's temporary closure

PLEASANTON, Calif.

The shelter only has five days to find new homes. The floor at the Valley Humane Society is going to be replaced because the epoxy has bubbled.

"And in most cases that wouldn't be such a big deal in most facilities," said Lori Rice, Chairman of the Valley Humane Society. "But for us, the bacteria can get down, the bubbles pop, the bacteria can get down into the crevices, and when that happens bacteria can collect, and so that's really dangerous for our cats and our dogs."

The society is looking for adopters and also for temporary foster homes. It will close next Thursday, and reopen around the first of next month.
