New drivers are taught to keep both hands on the wheel, but many young people often have one hand on a cellphone while driving. But keeping in constant contact can be dangerous, even deadly. That's why AT&T and Skyline High School in Oakland hope a simulator will be a life-saving life lesson.
Before getting behind the wheel senior David Pham was confident about his ability to text and drive.
"I choose not to but I think I could," he said.
That's what has educators and AT&T worried.
"A lot of our students our students are starting to drive so it's really important to us that they understand what the potential ramifications could be," Skyline High School Activities Director Justin Anderson said.
Wednesday is national "Don't Text And Drive Day."
