Alum Rock Park closed because of fire danger

SAN JOSE, Calif.

In order to reduce the potential for fire in the park, no public access or activities will be allowed today.

Monday's air temperature at the park, located in the foothills of the Diablo Range, was measured at 96 degrees, with relative humidity at 16 percent, city officials said.

While the emergency closure is so far only scheduled for today, the park could remain closed longer if weather conditions don't reach a fire-safe level, according to the city.
