Using social media may help win the war against childhood obesity according to a new study by the American Heart Association.

Tweets, Facebook posts, and text messages have become very useful and effective tools in promoting healthy lifestyles. With more teens, roughly 95 percent, logging onto the web at home, the association finds social media to be the best way to reach young people and get them active.

Social media has become more effective than TV ads and other outreach campaigns targeting youth.
