350 jobs available at HIREvent job fair in SJ

SAN JOSE, Calif.

"Extreme Learning" is looking for about 130 in-house and online tutors and was just one of the companies hiring. Other jobs openings included global treasury managers, housekeepers, public relations, cocktail servers, linguists for the U.S. Army, HR program coordinators, sales associates, line cooks, and management trainees.

Job Journal spokeswoman Karen Dawal says she loves online job sites, but she also strongly recommends job fairs. "If you're a fisher person and you're going to a pond and you keep striking out day after day after day, why do you keep going back there? You're going to look for a new pond to fish in," she said. "Same thing with job search. If you're discouraged, why do you keep going back to the same site? Do something different. Think out of the box. Start coming to job fairs."

The job fair was scheduled to run from noon to 4 p.m. at the DoubleTree hotel at 2050 Gateway Place in San Jose.
