'Star Trek' director grants dying fan's dream

"Star Trek: Into Darkness" does not come out until May next year. A fan, just diagnosed with terminal cancer and given weeks to live, wanted to see a nine minute promo clip of the movie before he died. He tried to see it during the preview of The Hobbit, but it was not shown in his region.

When the man's wife posted on Reddit, pleading for help to see the promo, the site's posters rallied, joining the plea.

After a few days Abrams contacted the dying man. The movie's director will give him a special screening. And it's not just the nine minute promo, but a rough cut of the entire film.
