Petaluma officials to vote on anti-smoking ordinance

PETALUMA, Calif.

In December the council tentatively approved a ban on smoking in places that include all hotel rooms, private apartments, condos, and outdoor spaces including balconies, courtyards, bus stops, and sidewalks.

The tough new regulations are intended to protect people from secondhand smoke.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports Petaluma's ordinance is slightly more stringent than a Sonoma County ban passed by supervisors last year.
