Pit bull spared from death row

SAN FRANCISCO

Last August, Charlie attacked a mounted policeman and bit his horse ten times at San Francisco's Crissy Field.

Charlie was ordered euthanized, but the sentence was suspended while the owner, David Gizzarelli fought to keep his dog alive.

San Francisco officials and Charlie's owner have now agreed to a settlement.

Gizzarelli will give up ownership of the pit bull and San Francisco Animal Care & Control will place Charlie in an animal sanctuary.
