The shooting was reported at 4:49 p.m. on the 1500 block of 8th Street, according to Officer Kevin McDonald.
One victim, a male adult, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting was the second homicide of the day for Oakland.
A man was also fatally stabbed around 6:05 a.m. today on the 700 block of East 11th Street, McDonald said.
