Man allegedly tries to kiss boys on San Leandro street

SAN LEANDRO, Calif.

Michael Roy Flores, 49, approached the two 14-year-old boys in the area of East 14th Street and 136th Avenue around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Lt. Luis Torres.

He initially asked the boys if they had $50. When they said no, he allegedly grabbed one by the arm and put his face close to the boy's face, Torres said.

That boy pulled away, but Torres then turned to the other boy, who was trying to ignore him, and allegedly puckered his lips and tried to kiss him, Torres said. The boy backed away, however, and Flores missed.

An adult nearby saw what happened and intervened, calling the boys over to her and then walking them to the nearby 7-11, Torres said. She then waited with the boys until Flores left.

The mother of one of the boys called police to report the incident, and police were able to locate Flores, who is a transient. He was arrested on suspicion of annoying a minor, Torres said.

"The actions by the Good Samaritan to immediately pull the boys away from the situation and staying with them until Flores left prevented any harm from coming to them," Torres said.
