Numbers from the FBI found nearly three out of every four police agencies shrank between 2008 and 2011.
The FBI says the state lost around 4,000 thousand police officers during that period.
The number of civilian support staff also went down by 3,000 people in the same time frame.
The bureau also notes that crime decreased during that period.
