Police say Jeramie Posas of Milpitas is considered armed and dangerous.
Police first started looking for the Posas at 2:15 p.m., when he was located in the 1000 block of Junesong Way in San Jose.
Police say Posas tossed a loaded handgun after Milpitas police spotted him.
He jumped fences into neighborhood backyards to evade the officers. San Jose police assisted in the investigation by providing traffic control, establishing a perimeter and conducting a yard-to-yard search.
They looked for Posas for several hours and closed several streets before calling off the search shortly after 7:30 p.m.
