Tuesday is National Equal Pay Day, a day to bring attention to the wage gap that continues between working men and women.

According to the Census Bureau, women are still paid only 77 cents for every dollar a man is paid. The pay gap widens for working Latinas, who earn 54 cents, and African-American women, who earn 66 cents, to a man's dollar.

There are events planned nationwide including at San Francisco City Hall where the board of supervisors is expected to vote on a resolution declaring the April 9 "Equal Pay Day" in the city.
