PG&E: Fine for San Bruno blast may force rate increase

SAN BRUNO, Calif.

The utility agency's top executive says your rates will stay about the same if PG&E can apply money it's spent on upgrading gas pipelines toward any penalties.

Regulators are considering fining PG&E $2.25 billion.

The City of San Bruno wants the state to fine PG&E more than $3.8 billion.

The company says it would need help from customers to pay the higher amount.
