Asiana Flight 214 crash investigation's ripple effect

SAN FRANCISCO

When a major airport like SFO has three runways doing the job of four, there is bound to be delays.

Before removing any piece of wreckage, investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board need to tag it and record the location on a global positioning system.

It's all part of the ongoing investigation but it's frustrating to passengers inside.

The airport cancelled 70 flights on Tuesday, half departing, half arriving. It's been a nightmare for passengers trying to get out of town or get home.

SFO told ABC7 News delays are running anywhere from 60-90 minutes. It describes these delays as being similar to what passengers encounter in bad weather.

There is currently o timeline as to how long the NTSB will be investigating the crash site.
