Skechers USA has agreed to settle a complaint brought by the Federal Trade Commission over shoes called Shape-ups.
The FTC claimed Skechers made unfounded claims that the shoes would help people lose weight, strengthen and tone their buttocks, legs and abdominal muscles.
Under the deal, the shoe company has agreed to send a check for roughly $78 to more than 509,000 people who submitted valid refund claims.
