There is new proof that a big controversy can boost business.

Rolling Stone's issue with suspected Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev sold twice as many copies as usual, according to industry publication Ad Week.

The magazine sold more than 12,000 issues between July 19 and July 29, more than double the cover at the same time last year.

Only 5 percent of Rolling Stone's circulation comes from retail sales.
