Musician with disease reaches goal by raising $45K to record album

LOS ANGELES

Brad Carter is in a race against time and essential tremor, a progressive neurological disease that's slowly robbing him of his ability to play guitar. Doctors at UCLA have been working to slow down the disease.

Carter's dream has been to record a professional album while he still can. So he started a kickstarter campaign, and he has surpassed his $45,000 goal.

"It feels unreal that so many people would be supportive of my dream and my endeavors, and just the outpouring of love that I felt from total strangers has been really moving. I'm so happy," said Carter. "Thank you so much for all the emails, all the support, all the personal messages that you guys have sent me from all around the world."

Carter has another surgery on the way and recovery before he can get to work on his album, but he plans to have it done as early as April 2014.
