San Mateo Co. tests tsunami warning sirens

Tsunami sirens sounded their alarm along the San Mateo County Coast again Wednesday.

The county ran its first monthly test again Wednesday morning since upgrading the warning sirens during August and September.

The new system allows for voice announcements in addition to a siren. It also continuously self-monitors and alerts technicians to any malfunctions.

The tsunami warning sirens cover a 30-mile stretch of coastline from Pacifica to Pescadero.
