Instagram is taking its first steps to make "instant cash."

The mobile photo-sharing app says it will start to occasionally show photo and video ads in the coming months.

Until now, the app owned by Menlo Park-based Facebook has not shown any ads; though users can follow brands and businesses.

Instagram says it'll be selective and only show high-quality pictures from a few brands.

The app has more than 150 million users, and is especially popular with teens and young adults.
