San Carlos school board president resigns over loan

SAN CARLOS, Calif.

Last month, Superintendent Craig Baker took out a one year bridge loan, so he could buy a $1.3 million house and move to San Carlos from Redwood City. However, he got the loan a day before the school board took formal action to approve it.

Although the board later agreed to create a public timeline on what happened, president Beth Hunkapiller resigned when her colleagues refused to authorize a more complete audit. Hunkapiller served nearly 20 years on the board, but was not running for re-election.
