Fashion retailer Jack Spade is no longer trying to open a store in San Francisco's Mission District.

The company suffered a setback when the board of appeals agreed to re-hear the question of whether Jack Spade could be defined as "formula retail," which makes the approval process much tougher.

Some business owners in the area felt Jack Spade would take their customers. Others believed the store would attract more consumers for everyone's benefit.
