Mexico bans import of Foster Farms chicken from California

MEXICO

The L.A. Times is reporting that the Mexican government has removed two Foster Farms plants in Fresno and one in Livingston from its list of approved importers.

Federal investigators found the three plants were likely responsible for a salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 338 people across the U.S. since March.

The USDA never issued a recall. It has allowed Foster Farms to continue operating the facilities after the company submitted and put in motion changes to their slaughter and processing.
