Plum Organics recalls some baby food products

Plum Organics is recalling pouch products in its "Baby Stage 2, Tots Mish Mash, and Kids lines after discovering a manufacturing defect that may cause some packages to swell and the product in some pouches to spoil.

The recalled products have "Best By" dates ranging from Aug. 5 to Dec. 8 of 2014.

"It's simply a matter of a sour taste," said Plum Organics spokesperson Kara Flynn. "It may be unpalatable if someone was to consume it, but consumers would simply experience some temp gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea and diarrhea, it's not a food safety issue."

Out of an abundance of caution, Plum Organics is voluntarily recalling all pouches with affected codes.

Consumers who have purchased affected products should contact the Plum Organics Consumer Hotline at (866) 495-3774 or send an email to with the subject line "Replacement Voucher" to request a product replacement voucher. In the email, you must also include your first and last name, full address, phone number, Best By date, and the number of affected pouches.

In a statement, company president and co-founder Neil Grimmer said, "As a father of two, I know how it feels to want nothing but the very best for our kids and yours. Over the years, Plum has worked hard to earn the trust of parents, and we fully intend on maintaining that trust. We are taking every action to ensure that our highest standards are being met."
