Classes canceled at Silver Creek High in San Jose

SAN JOSE

"Due to a power outage, the campus is closed for today. Stay home and do your homework! School resumes tomorrow," the message read.

The number of PG&E customers without power in the South Bay because of weather-related outages has been reduced to about 240 this morning, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outages began on Tuesday, and late Tuesday night about 7,600 customers were without power in the San Jose, Los Gatos and Morgan Hill areas.

Overnight, that number dropped to 1,600, and PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said at about 7:45 a.m. that only 237 customers remained without power because of five separate outages in the San Jose area.

All of the outages are believed to be weather-related but remain under investigation, she said.

"We do have crews on site and en route to each of the locations," Morris said.

She said she did not yet know when power would be fully restored.
