Plans for a new $500 million waterfront ballpark in Oakland are being proposed by a lineup of heavy-hitters. The group includes the head of Clorox and has support from Mayor Jean Quan.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the group will ask the Port of Oakland to give it control of the 50 acre Howard Terminal site, west of Jack London Square.

The group hopes to entice Oakland A's ownership to get on board, or convince Major League Baseball the area is a viable site for a new ballpark.
