Pregnant woman injured in Morgan Hill hit-and-run

MORGAN HILL, Calif.

At about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, a driver later identified as 23-year-old Esteban Sanchez, of San Jose, drove his vehicle into another car on East Dunne Avenue and injured the pregnant driver, according to police.

Sanchez fled the scene and then lost control of his vehicle and collided into a fire hydrant and signal box on Butterfield Boulevard at Barrett Avenue, police said.

Sanchez ran from his vehicle and led officers on a foot pursuit into an industrial area on Caputo Drive, police said.

Officers eventually took Sanchez into custody and booked him into Santa Clara County Jail for felony hit-and-run, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license and for violation of his probation, police said.

Police said Sanchez had been arrested four previous times for DUI.
