Bay Area US Olympic figure skating champion gets big send-off

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Edmunds is going to Russia with the support of her entire school.

"I've been working so hard on this for so long and now I'm going to the Olympics," Edmunds said.

She is a US Olympic figure skating champion on her way to the Olympics in Sochi.

"It feels great. It's just so exciting to have everybody on my side and it's just a huge boost going to the Olympics, knowing that I have so many people at home cheering for me," Edmunds said.

Not only was the entire school there to say good bye and good luck, but Archbishop Mitty High School alumni and Olympic gold medalists Brandi Chastain and Kerri Walsh were also there to cheer on Edmunds.

"Go out on that ice and skate your heart out and be who you are and know that you have all of us here supporting you here at home and that we're really proud of you, so congratulations," Chastain said.

Edmunds leaves for Sochi next week.
