San Francisco supervisors to consider e-cigarette restrictions

SAN FRANCISCO

Eric Mar's ordinance would prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes wherever smoking is prohibited.

It would also require a tobacco permit to sell them and prohibit the sale wherever tobacco cannot to be sold.

A first hearing on the bill is set for Thursday.

Electronic cigarettes allow the user to inhale nicotine vapor instead of tobacco fumes.

They are not regulated by the FDA.
