Batkid was scheduled to appear at Oscars

SAN FRANCISCO

ABC7 News has obtained photos of Miles and his family at the hotel in Hollywood.

The family told ABC7 News they were excited about Miles' appearance and that he was anxious to wear a tuxedo on stage.

Batkid stole the hearts of everyone in the Bay Area and around the world in November after Make-a-Wish granted his wish to become a superhero for a day and save Gotham from the likes of the Riddler and the Penguin.

As for the Oscars on Sunday, the family didn't know exactly what Miles was going to do, only that he would be with other actors as part of a segment based on heroes.

ABC7 News confirmed Miles did go to rehearsal on Saturday. But sometime between the Saturday rehearsal and the Sunday evening show, the segment was cut.

When the Scott family learned Miles wouldn't be on the show, they went to Disneyland instead. They spent Sunday and Monday at the "happiest place on earth."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released a statement Thursday saying, "Due to the nature of a live show, hard decisions sometimes must be made which require the Academy to cut segments due to the logistics of production. Andrew Garfield understood that his segment had to be omitted, and he drove to Disneyland on Monday to spend time with 5-year-old Miles Scott (Batkid) and his family."
