Report: Paul Mccartney may ditch Candlestick show

A new report suggests the 49ers may talk Paul McCartney into bailing on a farewell concert at San Francisco's Candlestick Park because they want him to help open the team's new stadium in Santa Clara.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that last month McCartney's concert promoter accidentally told Candlestick officials that they had visited Levi's Stadium.

They were considering him being part of an opening concert there in August.

That would mean McCartney would not join the sendoff celebration at Candlestick.

Sir Paul and the Beatles did their final paid performance at the stadium in 1966.

The report says that Paul or no Paul, Candlestick officials will still plan for a big farewell.
