San Jose police received a report of an injured person in the 100 block of Jose Figueres Avenue, several blocks south of the medical center between McKee Road and Alum Rock Avenue, Sgt. Heather Randol said.
Once officers arrived, they found the woman inside her home with at least one stab wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Police Department's homicide unit responded to the scene of the murder and is investigating, Randol said.
No suspects have been identified or detained in connection with the case, she said.
The homicide was the 13th so far this year in San Jose, according to police.
