SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- A San Rafael assemblyman wants to make "ballot selfies" legal. Right now, taking a picture of your ballot or your voting booth is illegal in California because of a long-standing ban on cameras inside polling places.

Marc Levine's bill has passed the assembly and will have its first senate hearing on Wednesday.
Levine used a vote by mail ballot for this election. He took a picture when he mailed it with his daughter.
