Crews contain 2-alarm vegetation fire in Bay Point

BAY POINT, Calif. -- Firefighters have contained a two-alarm vegetation fire that burned 35 acres of dry grass in Bay Point Tuesday afternoon, a fire official said.

Firefighters responded around 1:15 p.m. to a report of a fire in the 4700 block of Evora Road, Fire Inspector Steve Aubert said.

Aubert said no structures were damaged in the fire and no injuries were reported.

Fire crews had the fire contained at 2:25 p.m., he said.

Firefighters from Cal Fire and the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District also responded to help battle the blaze, Aubert said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A second, 2-acre fire is also burning nearby, crews confirm.
