KENYA (KGO) -- Dramatic photos and video show crews working quickly on March 5 to free an elephant that got stuck in the mud overnight in Kenya.

According to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a joint effort from the Northern Rangelands Trust, Save the Elephants, and community members worked to free the dehydrated and scared pachyderm.

Video shows the rescuers giving water to the elephant, who they say drank more than 26 gallons!

In a Facebook post, the group said, "Lots of digging, pulling, 3 cars and the whole community behind him, the joint team managed to get him out and he walked away."
