San Jose firefighters knock down 1-alarm vegetation fire near Hwy 101

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Firefighters have knocked down a one-alarm fire near U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose Monday afternoon, a fire captain said.

Crews found rubber and garbage on fire at a maintenance yard on Mabury Road east of northbound Highway 101 and had the blaze knocked down as of 1:32 p.m., according to fire Capt. Christopher Salcido.

The blaze was reported around 1:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Mabury Road, a fire dispatcher said.

Crews arrived to find large plumes of heavy black smoke, which have since turned white, Salcido said.

No structures were threatened by the blaze and no vegetation was involved, according to Salcido.

No injuries were reported.
