Top aide to Donald Trump apologizes for controversial comment

A top adviser to Donald Trump apologized Tuesday for a controversial comment he made to a reporter for the political website the Daily Beast.

Michael Cohen asserted in an interview Monday that someone cannot legally rape their spouse.

Cohen now says he made the comment in a moment of shock and anger, when he was asked about a rape allegation Ivana Trump leveled at her husband during divorce proceedings in 1990.

Ivana Trump has backtracked from the claim in recent years and again Tuesday. Marital rape has been illegal in all 50 states since 1993.
