COLMA, Calif. (KGO) -- A San Francisco teenager who jumped out of the window of a burning building to save his dog got a special shopping trip on Tuesday.

Alessandro Gonzalez and his family met with members of the San Francisco Police Officers Association at the Target store in Colma

The family bought a lot of household items, including clothes and bath towels, along with a new television.

The San Francisco Police Officers Association took Mission District fire victim Alessandro Gonzalez and his family on a shopping trip in Colma, Calif. on Feb. 17, 2015.

They lost everything during a massive apartment fire in the Mission District last month. Now, the family will soon be moving into a new place at Treasure Island.

"We wanted to get the family necessities it needed for day-to-day living," said SFPOA President Martin Halloran. "Alessandro wanted a computer so he could do some of his homework. We got him a nice little laptop computer. And Alessandro was thinking about his whole family and he wanted to get a TV so everyone could enjoy it."

The 13-year-old escaped the flames by breaking a window. He then tossed his dog and jumped from the fire escape.

Alessandro Gonzalez, 13, and his dog jumped from the second floor of a burning building to firefighters waiting below in San Francisco, Calif. on Jan. 28, 2015.

The family has been staying at a Red Cross shelter.
