Coronavirus: Bay Area honors front line workers with rendition of Tony Bennett's 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco'

Bay Area honors those working on the frontlines fighting COVID-19 by singing Tony Bennett's "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Musicians, firefighters, and even the San Francisco Giants' announcer came together on Saturday to honor those on the front lines of the novel coronavirus fight by participating in a sing-along of Tony Bennett's classic, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

The legendary singer tweeted: "I am so proud to see San Francisco come together and make a difference during this uncertain time. Today at 12pm PDT, we'll sing I Left My Heart in San Francisco together from home. I encourage you to join, record your performance, and share online! #SingOutSF."

A slew of fans heeded the call and here's a look at just some of the performances.

Bennett's song first came out in 1962.

San Francisco jazz singer Mark Robinson sang Bennett's song in front of Bennett's heart sculptures at Union Square in San Francisco on Saturday.
