SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The cost of renting apartments is climbing faster in San Francisco than in most other American cities.

That's according to real estate data firm Zillow.

Over the past year, rents in San Francisco jumped 15.4 percent to an average now of $3,031.

Believe it or not, Zillow says that is less than the price in San Jose.

Rents there, on average, are up 14.5 percent to $3,187 a month.
