SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The San Francisco Fire Department, citing personnel issues, refused to confirm reports that two top fire officials have been suspended.

The two men, both assistant chiefs, have reportedly been suspended for covering up the actions of a firefighter accused of driving drunk when he ran a red light and struck a motorcycle rider last year.

The ABC7 News I-Team first obtained video of the accident.

Sources tell the I-Team's Dan Noyes that at least one of the chiefs didn't learn the details of his suspension until he read it in the paper Wednesday morning.

One has been suspended for eight days, the other for 10.
