Senator John McCain joins USS Hornet Museum's advisory board

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) -- Senator John McCain is taking on a new role in the Bay Area.

McCain will join the advisory board of the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda.

The World War II aircraft carrier houses military planes and hosts annual remembrance days for fallen service members.

Senator McCain spent 22 years as a naval aviator, surviving an accidental missile attack that almost took his life.
