NAPA, Calif. -- What's better than BBQ sauce that compliments whatever you throw on the grill? A zesty-sweet sauce that also gives back.

Napa-based chef, entrepreneur, and Missouri-native Darryl Bell Jr. set out to harness the flavors of his hometown and give back to those who need it most. The result: Stateline Road BBQ.

"I think it's always nice to be able to have a core of why you started, you know, and my core was to be able to give back," said Bell Jr.

Named for the major thoroughfare that divides Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas, Stateline Road BBQ sauce features a blend of Central Valley tomatoes, Gilroy garlic, brown sugar, vinegar, and a hush-hush blend of spices. It's just the right amount of sweet, heat, and piquant that reveals itself on the palate like a fine wine.

Having grown up volunteering at soup kitchens with his mom, Darryl has always been dedicated to giving back. When you purchase Stateline Road BBQ sauce and products, 20% of the proceeds are split and donated to two children's nonprofits, No Kid Hungry and the Rafiki Foundation.

"Whether you buy our items or not, you know, at least research these two foundations," said Bell Jr. "Make sure you help and support them as well."
