Man found dead from gunshot wound inside Universal Studios Hollywood

UNIVERSAL CITY, LOS ANGELES -- A man was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the backstage area inside Universal Studios Hollywood Friday afternoon.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a person with a gun at about 2:35 p.m. They found him dead at a bench near an eating area.

Some guests were temporarily sheltered in place.

"We are working closely with law enforcement and corporate security on this ongoing investigation," a spokesperson for the theme park said. "The safety and security of our guests is always of the utmost of importance."

No other victims were reported.

Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide detectives were handling the investigation.
