Fremont's new Warm Springs BART station finally opens amid delays

FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- The new Warm Springs BART station finally opened in South Fremont Monday morning, amid major delays due to power lines fell across tracks at the West Oakland BART station.

The new Warm Springs BART Station was supposed to open in 2014.

Some people ABC7 News spoke with said they were excited about the new station opening minus the major BART delay that sent many people back to their cars.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Many passengers would've been better off staying home, rather than riding BART from the brand new Warm Springs BART station.

"Today being the first day, we were all excited, but now we don't know what to do," one man said.

"I'm working from home, I guess. I can't get to San Francisco," one woman said.

"I'm going back home, there's no train anymore. It's just a waste of time," Milpitas resident Deepa Padmanavhan said.

It was supposed to be a big day for commuters as the Warm Springs BART station was the first step for BART to reach Silicon Valley. This new BART line is expected to serve 7,000 passengers during the week.

Everything is new at the station, but when you consider the major delay Monday morning, many passengers said it's the same old BART.

"I was very excited about the first commute, but I guess we'll try again tomorrow," Warm Springs resident Anuj Jain said.

The issue was resolved at about 9:15 a.m., with BART working on residual delays.

Hopefully the commute will be smoother for residents at the Warm Springs BART station on Tuesday.
