Woman killed in crash on Interstate 280 near Hillsborough

SAN MATEO, Calif. -- A 31-year-old woman died in a crash on southbound Interstate 280 just west of Hillsborough Sunday afternoon.

The first report of the crash came in at 2:43 p.m. on I-280 just south of Black Mountain Road in the San Francisco State Fish & Game Refuge, CHP officials said.

The woman lost control of the vehicle she was driving and crashed into a guardrail, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.

Officials say she died at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, Montiel said.
