Students at a charter school in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood were evacuated this morning after a bomb threat was called into the Police Department, Sgt. Steve Mannina said.

A bomb threat was reported to the police at about 9:15 a.m., Mannina said.

Students were evacuated from Metropolitan Arts & Tech High School at 2340 Jackson St., and a bomb squad responded, he said.

A canine unit could not detect the reported bomb, and the threat was found to have no merit, Mannina said.

Police were allowing students back in the school by about 11 a.m., Mannina said.

School officials could not immediately be reached.
