Bullet found on airplane in San Jose

SAN JOSE

Approximately 100 people were in the process of boarding the plane at about 8:20 a.m. when the bullet was located, according to airport spokesman David Vossbrink.

United Airlines evacuated the plane with the assistance of San Jose police and Transportation Security Administration personnel, he said. Passengers were rescreened and there were no immediate reports of any suspicious travelers, Vossbrink said.

Officials do not know where the bullet came from or when it might have appeared in the plane. Vossbrink said United Airlines and the Transportation Security Administration will investigate the incident. No description of the bullet was immediately available.

According to the Vossbrink, the aircraft experienced an unrelated mechanical failure and passengers were booked onto another flight.
