A skate-rock group, professional skateboarders and San Jose city officials are celebrating the opening today of what is reportedly California's largest outdoor skatepark with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live entertainment.

The 68,000-square-foot Lake Cunningham Regional Skatepark will be open on weekdays at 11 a.m. and weekends at 9 a.m. It costs $2 per visit, or $50 annually. It's equipped with a full, 22-foot-tall pipe, 10 bowls ranging from beginner-to-expert levels and a street course.

The $4.7 million park will close about 30 minutes before sunset daily.

The ceremony, which will include giveaways, long jump contests and public skating is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2305 South White Road.
