As if it is not already hot enough in the Bay Area, the Crucible's Fire Arts Festival is set to get underway this week.

The open-air festival will feature fire sculpture, interactive art, fire and dance performances and live music.

The eighth annual celebration will be the largest collection of fire and light sculptures on the West Coast.

The Crucible, founded in 1999, is a non-profit arts education center that teaches and showcases fire, metal, glass and light art.

The festival will run Wednesdau through Saturday at the corner of Kirkham Street and 7th Street, two blocks from the West Oakland BART station.
